Ignored and will continue to be ignored - Cervical Cancer
If you watch Shark Tank India, then you must have seen this episode of the ongoing third season of the show, Shark Tank India Season-3.Where two entrepreneurs come up with a pitch related to a disease often seen in women, through which women can easily detect this disease.
Yes, we are talking about Cervical Cancer.
In this blog, we will not know whether those two entrepreneurs got investors or not, rather we will know about Cervical Cancer, which has been ignored in the past and will continue to be ignored in the future also. But not after this blog because after this you will not be able to ignore it.
So without wasting time let us know - What is Cervical Cancer?
According to the World Health Organization(WHO), cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women, caused by HPV(human papilloma virus), a virus that is spread during sexual intercourse. If we talk only about our India then this is the second most common cancer. Yes, every year more than 3 lakh deaths occur worldwide due to cervical cancer, if we talk about India only then about 75,000 people die from this cancer every year. This means that one-fourth of all deaths from cervical cancer worldwide occur in India.
Let us understand this from the female reproductive system- Ovaries produce eggs which when fertilized make any female pregnant and if the eggs do not meet the sperm then periods occur. Uterus, which is also called womb in common language, the child grows here during pregnancy and periods comes out from here which we call vagina. The cervix is between the vagina and the uterus where the symptoms of this cancer are seen.
A research by Cancer Research UK has shown that if –
If cervical cancer is detected in stage 1 and treated early, then 95% of women survive. In Stage 2 this number reduces to 70%. So in the third stage, the chances of any woman surviving this cancer is 40% and in the last i.e. fourth stage, the chances of survival are only 15%. Here We can only understand how dangerous it can be, about which most people still do not know.
However, the most surprising thing is that sexually active people sometimes get infected with this virus called human papilloma, But the body's immune system protects against this infection.
But when this HPV infection occurs many times then this infection in the cervix takes the form of cancer, But the best thing here is that cervical cancer is completely different from other types of cancer because it can be prevented with the help of HPV Vaccination.
On June 8, 2006, the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA) approved the HPV vaccine for clinical use. After this, cervical cancer reduced by 88% in teenagers and 81% in adults.
A test called Pap-Smear is done to detect cervical cancer. With the help of Pap-Smear test, early symptoms of "cervical cancer" can be easily detected. During this test, some cells are removed from the cervix and examined.
Through this blog, I am requesting you to please talk to your nearest gynecologist about pap smear. Especially if your age is more than 30, then it is important to get a pap-Smear test done every two-three years.
Look, you and I know better that in our India, whenever it comes to women's health, most of the things are suppressed, especially in rural areas, where even today women do not talk openly about their health. Can do it. And cervical cancer is a disease which is related to our uterus.
The womb in which we remain safe for 9 months to come into this world, the womb from which we are born, we do not know about its diseases or perhaps we have not even tried to know about it till date. But now it is as important for us men as it is for women to know about it, so that we can talk openly about such diseases and keep the women around us safe from them.
🚨Because this issue is important🚨
And perhaps our present government has kept all these things in mind and keeping this in mind, the Government of India is going to launch a platform named U-Win.
U-WIN i.e. Unorganized Workers Identification Number is a universal vaccination program. Under which girls aged 9 to 14 years will be given free cervical cancer vaccine. Just understand that a campaign like "Do Boond Zindagi ke Liye" has been going on for years to end polio. Now a similar campaign will be run to make it free from cervical cancer.
